Business Applications Specialist
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Business Applications Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on deploying, upgrading, and supporting complex IT/OT systems on a global scale within the manufacturing, quality, and engineering sectors. The successful candidate will work closely with Architecture, Security, and Site Services IT/OT teams to ensure compliance with our security and architecture standards. Collaboration with 3rd-party vendors and application support groups is also a key component of this position.
This role involves lifecycle management of business-critical applications and systems, ensuring uptime, reducing risk, and mentoring other team members for continued application/system ownership. The ideal candidate will build relationships with key stakeholders and drive the implementation of sustainable technical solutions with a cradle-to-grave support approach.
This is a 100% global role, collaborating with Business Application Specialists in Asia, Europe, and the Americas, for follow-the-sun support to ensure continuous operation of manufacturing plants.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Business Applications Specialist you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee the full lifecycle management of strategic global applications and related infrastructure, ensuring ongoing performance and optimization.
  • Lead and participate in the development and deployment of IT/OT projects, from planning through execution.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT/OT systems, ensuring disaster recovery, high availability, fault tolerance, and planning/testing contingencies to maximize uptime.
  • Oversee global and local configurations of applications, networks, and servers, including reconfigurations, switch installations, and global network design.
  • Create and maintain documentation for new and existing systems, while planning for future improvements and expansions.
  • Provide critical support to resolve complex application issues and minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with third-party vendors and application support groups to implement updates, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operation.
  • Contribute to broader Global IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
  • Collaborate with a global team, providing the support for manufacturing plants.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering knowledge transfer and building application/system ownership within the global team.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in IT/OT systems deployment, support, and lifecycle management with a focus on global, complex applications in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage IT projects of varying sizes from inception to completion.
  • Technical skills in:
  • Networks, subnetting, and packet flow.
  • Servers, storage, backups, high availability, and fault tolerance.
  • Workstation technologies and Active Directory/Group Policy.
  • Virtual desktop technologies (Azure, VMware, etc.).
  • Automation tools, processes, and PowerShell/scripting.
  • System design and diagramming for architecture creation.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with business stakeholders.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making under limited supervision.
