This Business Architect, part of the enterprise architecture department, helps business leaders enhance core capabilities to achieve the organization’s targeted outcomes through strategic programs, projects, and initiatives. The Business Architect must be capable of practically applying existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Produce, maintain and govern Architecture Blueprint deliverables including:
  • Business Capability Model(s)
  • Technology Roadmap(s)
  • High Level Solutions for strategic projects in the Technology Roadmap
  • Technology Reference Models
  • Technology white list for future projects and initiatives
  • Solution standards, patterns and best practices
  • Current and future state Technology Landscape Diagrams
  • Solution Design Documents for select projects in the Technology Roadmap
  • Provide technology governance and alignment to strategic direction
  • Review proposed architecture to ensure solutions are technically thorough, secure, actionable and operationally supportable.
  • Review and assist in the planning of initiatives to enable or support strategic direction or corporate goals.
  • Lead architecture planning and capacity management, optimizing the environment for performance, reliability, and value.
  • Provide governance and leadership for project-based architects to ensure business initiatives align with the overall enterprise vision, strategy and principles
  • Serve as solution architect on and/or oversee various business initiatives such as transformation, standardization, consolidation, convergence, migration, and optimization across the enterprise.
  • Promote, lead and facilitate the use of technology or innovation to support business strategy or capabilities.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis or a related field. Or equivalent work experience

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience including 5 years in architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and cloud / hybrid planning and operations
  • Requires exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing complex end-to-end solutions.
  • Certification in at least one of CGEIT, COBIT, TOGAF, ITIL, MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional is a benefit
  • Background in supporting, administering and architecting work management systems.
  • Hands-on experience with a broad spectrum of Microsoft Azure Services including standard infrastructure services (compute, networking, storage, databases and web), identity, security, analytics, machine learning and AI, DevOps practices, containers and integration services.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex IT projects from conception to implementation.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level architectural solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate system requirements and align IT strategies with business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities to effectively convey architectural plans and concepts.
  • Adept at problem-solving and decision-making to address technical challenges and business needs.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies and architectural trends.
  • Ability to mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
