JOB SUMMARY

Salary Pending Review
Reporting to the Manager, Planning, Evaluation, and Continuous Quality Improvement, the Business Continuity and Emergency Response Specialist strives to have an impact on health and health equity of Niagara residents by providing coordination and support to inform departmental emergency response planning and implementation, pandemic planning, business continuity and policy development and review. The Business Continuity and Emergency Response Specialist is a central resource for the department in facilitating the response to emergency needs for Public Health, including business continuity.

EDUCATION

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Emergency Management/Response, Public Administration, Public Health, or other related studies

KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Public Health environment working with various community partners
  • Minimum 3 years experience in business continuity planning for emergency response preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with project management techniques/tools/software
  • Knowledge of emergency management practices and policy, knowledge of pandemic planning, and business continuity practices
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a range of community partners
  • Possess strong facilitation and presentation skills; and be able to translate knowledge to a wide range of audiences
  • Outstanding oral/written communication skills, advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in all MS office applications (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices, work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons
  • May be required to support emergency operations under the incident management structure, at the direction of the Emergency Operations Centre Director
  • May be required to work afterhours/standby as a part of a rotation
