Scope
The Business Controller works as Finance Business Partner to commercial management. He/she delivers effectively support to the European finance organization and secures visibility of the countries P&L’s and a number of specific balance sheet accounts. The role drives management decisions to improve the bottom line results, compliance and control best in class. The business controller supports mainly the TV & Sound business unit.
The success is dependent on the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with sales management and across the company with all functions, and to put the needs of the company and the customer first.
The Business Controller reports directly to the Business Controlling Team Lead. The Business Controlling team is based in our Shared Service Centrum here in Prague, which is supporting Phillips and AOC brands in European region.

Responsibility

  • Ensuring clear, concise, timely and accurate performance reports to sales and F&A management, and the relevant budget holders. To focus on the organizations’ key business drivers by developing and maintaining a key metrics approach to performance evaluation. The high focus area is the revenue, sales deductions and margin.
  • Pro-active analyses, including statistical trend analysis of country P&Ls and against the trend, budget and latest forecast.
  • Securing visibility of country level cost structure and the effects of the outcome, driving management decisions to improve cost structure and control to best in class.
  • Managing the long term and short term country P&L’s forecasts.
  • Controlling sales deductions & provisions, and OFSE. Preparing monthly control calculations related to sales provisions and selling expenses.
  • Approving sales contract conditions, customer commitments, vendor PR/POs. Providing robust challenge and advice on the commercial conditions and plans, ensuring that business decisions are based on sound financial analysis, and that business risks are managed.
  • Ensuring effectiveness of country budget planning with focus on OFSE. Preparing the reports, and pointing out areas with problems and/or where improvements can be made.
  • Translating strategic business decisions into financial results and inform the relevant parties like R2D, revenue accounting about the decisions. Furthermore, preparing scenarios to make visible the effect of decisions if needed.
  • Interacting with the internal customers; with special attention to the Sales Lead, but as well other managers. Acting as their business partner; understanding their needs and requirements and prioritize accordingly.
  • Collaborating with strategic customers and providing support to grow the revenues and margins with those customers.
  • Attending business review meetings with the budget holders to discuss variances and to stay informed about factors affecting the business.
  • Continued focus on process improvements, automation and scalability in line with best practices.
  • Working on achieving the team and company goals.
  • Executing assigned tasks diligently, on schedule, and to the highest standard. Being flexible to change the controlling scope (e.g. country or business) based on the company needs. Collaborating with team members, coaching and providing them backup, in order to achieve the common objectives.
  • Managing audit requirements for the revenue to margin analytics, with a high focus on sales deductions.
  • Providing knowledge of external environment, that may influence the Company’s operation in this area (e.g. governmental/regulatory changes, interest rate movements, foreign exchange movements, commodity price changes, etc.)
  • Supporting internal and external audits, and tax related items.
  • Managing C-Sox/compliance self-assessment. Highlighting potential compliance risks and issues to management.
  • Maintaining and improving your professional knowledge, keeping up with latest trends, and working to achieve self-development goals, which will be identified together with the manager
  • Assisting the European F&A leadership with ad hoc projects

Education And Related Experience

✅ MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in similar roles.
  • Background in finance
  • A bachelor or master level degree.
  • Working experience from a multinational, consumer product industry
  • Proficiency in MS Excel - it is our main working tool
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • IFRS knowledge
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)
  • Understanding of P&L for reporting
  • Team-player mentality
