We are seeking a dynamic and diligent Business Controller to support our European business. This role is integral to our financial operations, encompassing forecasting, budgeting, profitability analysis, case preparation, accrual validation/calculations, and operational improvements.
You Will
As part of the European Corporate Planning & Control Platform, you will support the Regional Country Cluster by handling all financial aspects of commercial operations related to Channels and Sales. This includes running actuals, budgets, and forecasts for Customer Tactical Commercial Investment and Rebates. Under the leadership of the Regional Planning & Control Head, you will serve as a financial business partner to the local Field Sales and Marketing Companies management and collaborate with Channel Heads, Sales Teams, Category Teams, Sales Support, Branch Management, and European Platforms to implement actions that optimize results. You will provide day-to-day business support to help achieve financial targets by maintaining a clear understanding of variances in actuals, budgets, and forecasts within the context of key performance indicators.
In detail

Commercial Investment Control & Management and ROI

• Manage Customer Tactical Commercial Investments (Channel, Category, Co-operative, Shop Fit) and Rebates, including governance, evaluation, financial control, provisions, reporting, tracking actual claims, forecasting, and planning.
• Support monthly review meetings with Country management to proactively handle existing and future financial commitments.
• Participate in quarterly European review meetings.
• Conduct business analysis using standard reporting tools, highlighting key achievements and shortfalls.
• Collaborate with the Sony Global Finance and Accounting Record to Report team in month-end closing activities.
• Monitor and track rebate evaluations to ensure appropriate provisions are maintained and closed in a timely manner.
• Drive the implementation of standard processes in collaboration with other In-Country Business Controllers.

Forecasting & Budgeting

• Support the monthly and yearly forecasting processes, ensuring planning accuracy.
• Provide financial support to enable Country Management Teams to be accountable and responsible for their business performance.
• Conduct MP actuals and forecast analysis using pan-European reporting tools.

Business Governance and Business Partnering

• Support Sales & Marketing processes related to monthly and quarterly management reviews.
• Ensure high levels of reporting accuracy and quality.
• Handle customer profitability analysis and budgeting.
• Ensure compliance and alignment with the commercial investment corporate accounting policy (CAP).

You Will Bring:

• University Degree in Economics or Finance or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in Controlling and/ commercial reporting and analysis.
• Experience working across European businesses in multicultural environments.
• Understanding of core finance processes.
• Familiarity with SAP, Business Objects, Business Warehouse, Integrated Planning.
• Proficiency in English, additional language skills will be an asset
• Strong communication and presentation skills, along with a robust analytical background
