In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Business Development Team is currently hiring for a Business Development Analyst.
As a member of a small team, support the completion of an assessment of Business Development opportunities, including financial modeling, research & development and business case preparation; the role will support the development of detailed recommendations to senior management regarding these opportunities.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support management in the assessment of Business Development opportunities, including a focus on complementary non-carbon emitting technologies to nuclear power generation and how they can play a role in Bruce Power’s achievement of Net Zero by 2027.
  • Develop a knowledge of the Sustainability landscape specific to Bruce Power’s role in combating Climate Change
  • Engage cross-functional teams across Bruce Power to support Bruce Power’s sustainability objectives utilizing this knowledge to inform Management on business opportunities & strategies
  • Keep up to date on global commodity markets as they relate to Bruce Power’s business, to maintain a strong understanding of the risks & opportunities facing the company externally
  • Utilizing an approved framework and criteria, assess business opportunities through rigorous analysis and develop business cases based on quantitative & qualitative measures
  • Establish and work with a network of internal and external contacts to secure, protect and advance the interests of Bruce Power
  • Work with other organizations (internal/external, government & non-Government) to establish areas of partnership for the mutual benefit of all
  • Develop and coordinate intelligence gathering processes and identify potential opportunities.
  • Support the development of forecasting and planning models required for the development of new strategies
  • Keep abreast of regulatory, market developments, and assess competitor behavior. Assess market, regulatory, environmental and power market developments. Evaluate their impact on the Company’s revenue
  • Be a team player on project teams to drive projects to completion and provide guidance and direction to implement solutions
  • Produce & issue management reports
  • Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of a four (4) year University degree in an appropriate field such as Business, Engineering, Business Administration or Mathematics, plus one year of additional concentrated study in Business, Business Management or Business Administration
  • Requires the ability to develop business cases and feasibility studies including financial modelling
  • Financial Modeling – experience modelling within various computer programs; MS Office suite, Python
  • Strong business acumen – experience in the power, carbon & commodity markets
  • Ability to perform research & synthesize data into information
  • A period of six (6) years up to an including eight (8) years is considered necessary to gain this experience
