THIS INDIVIDUAL MAY BE A CURRENT GRADUATE WITH A TECHNICAL BACKGROUND OR SOMEONE WITH RESEARCH EXPERIENCE WHO IS ABLE TO CONSIDER CURRENT MARKET CONDITIONS FOR WORK WINNING PROPOSALS OR SOMEONE WHO HAS WORKED ON BIDS AND PROPOSALS WITHIN WITHIN THE CONSTRUCTION / ENERGY INDUSTRY

We are looking for someone with:

  • Project Management skills
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively to develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing

The successful candidate will be a team player with a can-do attitude and a focus on results. They will have developing leadership skills and will seek to identify and drive good practice.
Some experience of account management and/or high value selling approach is desirable. Experience / understanding of the construction sector and public sector procurement is helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is an exciting opportunity for an entry-level to junior candidate, to grow into or diversify their skillset. You will be joining Balfour Beatty Regional Scotland business, at a time of growth.
We are a leading contractor in the delivery of vital infrastructure projects across the country, across civil, build and energy sectors - supporting our customers to protect and enhance their assets and our local communities.

You will:

  • Influence the direction of travel by researching / monitoring market conditions to develop Energy Sector strategy
  • Lead Business Development and Relationship Management with a small selection of clients
  • Identify project and framework opportunities that align with the business capability
  • Support engagement with internal and external parties
  • Support development of key pursuits and value propositions to secure orders

What you’ll be doing

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Working with the Energy workstream, and the wider work winning team, the Business Development Associate will:

  • Research market conditions and help identify & develop relationships with new customers
  • Understand the Win Business Strategy and support customer relationship development and opportunity identification in line with the strategy
  • Support business development, adopting ‘high value selling’ principles, securing engagement from key personnel within the business to help build multi-level customer relationships
  • Help maintain and grow relationships with existing customers
  • Support opportunity capture planning and conversion
