Responsibilities:

Coordinates business development activities involving commercial and industrial accounts, key account management, economic development, local community and government, and member issues as required.

  • Provides project management and coordination for selected accounts as designated by the department supervisor or division officer.
  • Be the one point of contact for assigned key accounts to respond to any questions or resolve any issues they might have. This includes responding outside of normal work hours during emergency or urgent situations.
  • Oversees the creation of all assigned key accounts’ large power contracts; including surety requirements, load requirements and performs a review of the contracts on a routine basis.
  • Collaborates with others on the development of guidelines related to the key accounts management program and manages assigned individual key accounts.
  • Seeks opportunities to provide and participate in economic development assistance to local governments and business entities.
  • Gives presentations at various functions, such as chamber of commerce or economic development meetings.
  • Primarily involved in local political activities involving municipal, county and state governments and agencies, including attending forums where state and national politicians are attending. Involved in national political events as needed.
  • Works with local civic organizations such as the chamber of commerce in order to promote the programs and community involvement of MEC and present MEC programs as needed.
  • Coordinates service boundary amendments and exceptions with members, other utilities, engineering and legal counsel.
  • Works closely with state and municipal governments regarding city limit expansion, new and expanded roadways, and other municipal issues that may impact MEC.
  • Develops various business lines such as the marketing and sales of generators and PV systems to members.
  • Assists the Communications department with community and promotional events and member presentations as needed.
  • Ensures that New Service Applications of assigned key accounts are promptly processed using the service order tracking software.
  • Serves all members/customers courteously and efficiently responding to their inquiries, satisfying their complaints or referring them to proper staff if unable to resolve problem.
  • Participates in the update of annual business plan and assists in development of annual budget, and schedules activities accordingly.
  • Reports regularly to management any items of interest and importance to MEC.
  • Keeps current with MEC rate schedules, tariff, and Public Utility Commission of Texas rules and regulations.
  • Keeps informed of all products and applications relating to members and stays informed on issues affecting MEC and local area.
  • Attends various meetings including seminars, safety, and staff of which some may require overnight stays.
  • Becomes certified on an annual basis in fire extinguisher use; becomes certified every two years in CPR, first aid and for defensive driving.
  • Must be able to drive and maintain a current Texas driver’s license.
  • Conduct must reflect a professional image when in contact with members, general public, employees, and board of directors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
