Purpose:
Candidate will work as part of a multi disciplinary team to evaluate and rank various opportunities across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The successful applicant should be able to rapidly evaluate companies and basins at a high level at and give a list of prioritized M&A targets based on a given set of executive guidelines. Applicant will also be expected to evaluate a short list of prospects in detail and along with the rest of the Business Development team and give recommendations on values and strategies to acquire.
Main Responsibilities & Activities:
- Geological mapping, play generation and new technology application
- Create value through the generation of geological maps that can be used to identify new subsurface opportunities or the application of new drilling and completion designs, and enhanced oil recovery techniques in existing pools
- includes the application of advanced geological analysis, and the integration of geophysical and engineering data into a land acquisition strategy
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology is required
- Be a registered Professional Geoscientist or Geoscientist-In-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or another professional governing association and eligible for registration with APEGA
- 10 – 15+ years of geological experience in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin
- Duvernay/Montney Experience an asset
- Heavy Oil and/or SAGD Experience an asset
- Professional experience in exploration and development mapping techniques are required
- Efficient in Accumap, Petra, EVA and Enverus (Prism)
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a dynamic fast paced multidisciplinary environment
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and time management skills are required
- Strong presentation skills are essential
- Must be highly self-motivated team player who enjoys learning and contributing in a team environment
