The Babraham Institute is seeking a proactive and innovative Business Development Manager to drive growth in our external Science Facility offerings and support the Babraham Research Campus ecosystem. The role will have substantial internal and external facing aspects, requiring the postholder to have excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, customer service approach.
The post holder will identify and capitalise on new commercial opportunities available to our Facility teams, with a particular focus on our priority areas of flow cytometry, genomics, imaging, and experimental animal care. They will connect external clients with facility teams, promote our services, and manage client relationships. This role might be well suited to a candidate that has strong technical knowledge in one or more of our priority areas, keen to build on existing strong business development expertise, and interested in being trained to develop their knowledge of other facility priority areas.
The role will work closely with Babraham Research Campus Limited, both supporting the marketing of the Babraham Research Campus to potential new Campus tenants, as well as guiding SME campus tenants to appropriate Institute (or collaborating third party providers) services.
Strong negotiation skills and a track record of identifying and securing new business opportunities through market research and proactive networking are essential. The job-holder will be expected to travel to a range of conferences to promote the Institute’s facilities and the Babraham Research Campus. A highly collaborative working style is required, as is specialist knowledge in at least one of the prioritised areas.
This is a limited term appointment with funding for this post expected to be available for a period of 2 years in the first instance
