Responsibilities:
We are seeking detail orientated business development manager to join the Curtin Institute for Data Science to help develop partnerships with industry and government. In this role, you will:
- Work with the Director and management team to identify opportunities for collaboration with external organisations (e.g., industry, and government) and for attracting grants to grow research funds.
- Develop strategies to manage, sustain and nurture existing relationships and to grow the Institute’s collaboration base by engaging with new partners and pursuing new partnership opportunities.
- Attract investment from external funding organisations in government, industry, and professional societies to grow research incomes for the Institute.
- Collaborate with CIDS staff and partners to plan events and industry-focused activities/projects.
- Work with the CIDS media and communications staff to help define appropriate communications strategies and workflows to promote the institute to industry and government.
- Produce regular reports for the Director on the progress of relationships to measure and monitor effectiveness and return on investment as well as recommendations for the establishment of new relationships.
- Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above.
You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in business development and industry engagement within a complex organisation; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training. Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and a successful track record in securing and integrating funding support from industry, government and other organisations into collaborative ventures.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and management.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence others and a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high-level communication (written and oral) with the ability to engage and present information clearly and informatively to diverse audiences and prepare business cases.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting analytical research and providing reports on public documents to identify significant information.
