KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • Must have a Clean driving Licence. (Essential)
  • Sales skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. With proven experience within a sales environment. (Essential)
  • Customer relationship management: Ability to build rapport, understand customer needs, and provide tailored solutions. (Essential)
  • Construction industry knowledge: Thorough understanding of construction phases, waste types generated, and common challenges faced by construction companies. (Desirable)
  • Technical knowledge: Awareness of different types of waste disposal methods, including skip hire, grab lorries, and tipper trucks. (Desirable)

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for maximising the company’s profitability and business development in line with the overall budget and the sales targets set and agreed. The proactive development of new business opportunities in order to increase sales turnover in existing markets and growth into new markets. A highly autonomous role with freedom to develop new accounts with both suppliers and customers through proactive business development construction waste removal services, also known as “muck away” services, to construction companies by identifying potential clients, building relationships, understanding their waste disposal needs, and presenting customized solutions to efficiently remove and dispose of debris from construction sites in accordance with current waste legislation, often requiring a strong understanding of the construction industry, waste management regulations, and a proven track record within a sales environment.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an important role within Maen Karne, with primary responsibility to:

  • Identifying potential clients by actively prospecting for new construction projects and companies requiring muck away services through networking, cold calling, and market research.
  • Site visits and needs analysis, conducting on-site assessments to evaluate the volume and type of construction waste, access points, and project timelines to design suitable muck away solutions.
  • Presenting proposals and developing customised quotes and proposals outlining the scope of work, pricing, waste disposal methods, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Negotiating contracts: Discussing terms and conditions, pricing, and contract details to secure business.
  • Compliance and regulations: Staying updated on local waste disposal regulations and ensuring all operations adhere to environmental standards.
  • To present a monthly area update and plan with joint objectives and goals for the team.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor activity within the area and any potential impact this may have, identify market trends, potential clients, and competitive landscape.
  • Ensure accuracy of all reports and paperwork and submit them to required deadlines.
  • Promoting and maintaining an on-going dialogue with the Sales Manager and other key team members to ensure full commitment to the strategic business development of the region.
  • Identifying new opportunities that could be extended to other regions and area of the GRS business.
  • Ensuring that strong partnerships are maintained and further developed with key suppliers.
  • Participating in commercial and strategy team meetings.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as required by the General Manager, Sales Director, or other Directors as required.
  • Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant workplace.
