Description:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracting, oil & gas services, and wastewater treatment sectors. The BDM will play a key role in driving the growth of the company by building relationships with potential clients, understanding market trends, and securing high-value projects in these specialized fields. This role requires a deep understanding of the EPC, oil & gas, and wastewater industries, excellent networking and negotiation skills, and the ability to contribute to the company’s strategic expansion.
Key Responsibilities:

Business Opportunity Identification:

  • Identify and assess potential business opportunities within the EPC contracting, oil & gas services, and wastewater treatment sectors.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, industry shifts, and opportunities for growth in each of these key sectors.
  • Explore and analyze new geographical markets, client segments, and technological advancements that can lead to business growth.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, government entities, and decision-makers across the EPC, oil & gas, and wastewater industries.
  • Understand the needs and expectations of clients, ensuring the company’s offerings align with their requirements and providing tailored solutions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building trust and managing relationships to maximize business opportunities.

Strategic Sales & Market Expansion:

  • Drive the business development strategy to secure new projects, ensuring the company remains competitive in the market.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to increase market share and enhance the company’s presence in the EPC, oil & gas, and wastewater sectors.
  • Lead efforts to win high-value contracts, including complex EPC projects, oil & gas services contracts, and wastewater treatment solutions.

Tendering, Proposal & Bid Management:

  • Lead the preparation, submission, and management of proposals, bids, and tenders across all business sectors (EPC contracting, oil & gas, wastewater treatment).
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including estimation, engineering, and procurement, to create compelling, competitive, and technically sound proposals.
  • Ensure the timely submission of bids and proposals while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and compliance with client requirements.

Negotiation & Contract Management:

  • Manage the negotiation and closing of contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company while meeting client requirements.
  • Work closely with legal and project management teams to ensure that contractual agreements align with project delivery capabilities and financial objectives.

Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis:

  • Regularly monitor market trends, competitors, and client requirements to assess the competitive landscape and identify opportunities for differentiation.
  • Provide regular market intelligence reports to senior management, offering insights into potential risks and opportunities.

Collaboration with Internal Teams:

  • Work closely with project teams, engineering, procurement, and operations departments to ensure smooth handover of projects once secured.
  • Coordinate with marketing to create promotional materials and campaigns to support business development efforts in the EPC, oil & gas, and wastewater treatment sectors.

Networking & Industry Representation:

  • Represent the company at industry conferences, exhibitions, and networking events to promote the company’s capabilities and expand its business opportunities.
  • Foster relationships with government bodies, industry regulators, and key stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation and visibility in target markets.

Sales Forecasting & Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline for projects across all sectors, ensuring accurate forecasting of revenue and business opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports to senior management on business development activities, key wins, and challenges.

Risk Assessment & Business Strategy:

  • Evaluate potential risks associated with new business opportunities, including financial, operational, and legal risks, and present recommendations for mitigation strategies.
  • Align business development efforts with the company’s strategic goals, ensuring the identification and pursuit of profitable and sustainable projects.

Key Requirements:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in business development within the EPC contracting, oil & gas, and/or wastewater treatment industries.
  • Proven track record in winning and managing large-scale projects in these sectors.
  • Experience in preparing and managing proposals, bids, and tenders, particularly in the EPC and oil & gas sectors.
  • A strong understanding of the technical, financial, and regulatory aspects of oil & gas services and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of the EPC contracting process, oil & gas industry practices, and wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior executives, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement business strategies that deliver growth and market expansion.
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key industry players.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
