EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, chemistry, or engineering
  • MBA with marketing focus is considered a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of business development and/or marketing experience
  • Experience in the chemical/specialty chemical industry and global exposure is highly preferred

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization and business team environment
  • Commercial development acumen including value chain analysis, customer needs analysis, value proposition
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and team facilitating skills in a cross-functional environment

Responsibilities:

ROLE

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the Southeast Asia (SEA) growth strategy, aligned with the regional/global strategies and based on regional/country consumer and customer insights as well as the Market (segment/sub segment), size, growth and trends:

  • Establish a strong connection and working relationship with the global/regional business, marketing and technical teams to execute SEA growth strategy and initiatives
  • Develop a solid understanding of unmet needs in the various sub-regions and sub-segments in the SEA market to drive innovation projects. Lead voice of the customer interviews and new product blueprinting in focus sub-segments
  • Formulate marketing strategies to grow and defend existing business and identify new transformative business opportunities with key accounts
  • Provide leadership to sales, marketing, and technical teams to execute key growth initiatives and projects
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of current market trends leading to new opportunities, product positioning and value propositions to drive profitable business growth
  • Interface across functions and businesses to facilitate and lead key initiatives that result in differentiating Lubrizol in the market

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement SEA grow strategy for target markets:
  • Analyze markets and market trends, and make recommendations concerning segment and product strategy
  • Analyze current capabilities and develop action plans to capitalize on strengths and close gaps
  • Identify and develop target sub-markets through value and opportunity analysis
  • Continually monitor changes in the global and regional markets and adjust the strategy accordingly
  • Conduct and analyze customer interviews across the value chain, translating identified trends and unmet needs into high value opportunities
  • Identify key customer prospects in targeted markets and establish strong collaborative relationships
  • Product portfolio management
  • Product positioning and value delivery
  • Value-based target pricing and margin management
  • Understand manufacturing capability
  • Develop business case for target markets for Lubrizol to become differentiated leader
  • Identify new product/application development and innovation needs, and manage the innovation pipeline in SEA
  • Lead and facilitate high impact business development growth projects
