Description:

INTRODUCTION

Guardrisk Life Marketing employs professionals from various backgrounds (actuaries, attorneys, accountants, etc.). We are looking for a Business Development Specialist that can add dealmaking skills to the team to assist with identifying and executing on transactions in the Life business.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant tertiary qualification: BCom; BSc; LLB
  • Relevant professional qualification: Actuarial (good progress in exams); Accountant; Attorney, Engineer, CFA, etc
  • Candidate will be required to obtain FAIS compliance (RE5 designation)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the Life insurance and Financial Services industry
  • Preferred: Strong life insurance knowledge and understanding
  • Preferred: Dealmaking experience

Responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE

To actively drive new business and corporate transactions. This client-facing role will involve collaboration with multiple technical areas to develop and take to market tailored risk solutions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, develop and drive new business opportunities, value propositions and proposals in line with Guardrisk Life strategy. Marketing Guardrisk Life to prospective new clients. This includes taking responsibility for the following functions with assistance from the larger team and technical areas
  • Deal structuring
  • Advising clients on operating models in an outsourced insurance value chain
  • Taking clients through the Guardrisk Life new business process
  • Preparing business cases for consideration at the Guardrisk Life New Business and Product Management Committees
  • Identify and consult with prospective clients on their business goals to position insurance as a commercial opportunity that can grow their revenue. This engagement encompasses the full insurance value chain; the strategic objectives of the target company and commercial structures
  • Managing of opportunities from prospect to execution phase. This includes consulting with prospective clients to refine business cases (commercial viability; products, reinsurance etc.) and managing prospects through Guardrisk Life due diligence processes
  • Collaborate with other business units, channels and segments in Guardrisk Life and the Momentum group to unlock synergies and create joint new business opportunities.
  • Reporting, tracking and analysis in respect of Guardrisk Life new business targets
  • Managing cell captives, where products include, amongst others, funeral, individual life, disability, critical illness, credit life and investment products
  • Keeping up to date with news, legislation and regulation in the life insurance market. Network on industry matters to facilitate knowledge share and input to clients on their insurance businesses
  • Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service in Guardrisk Life
