MMGY Hills Balfour is the UK’s leading travel, tourism, sales and marketing communications partner across the disciplines of Integrated Marketing, PR, and Business Events.
We are looking for a dedicated Business Events Account Manager to work on leading destination clients.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Proven experience in a similar role (minimum 3 years) within a B2B industry or travel sector (travel agency/tour operator, tourism boards, airlines and/or hotels)
  • Understanding of and/or a strong network within the UK and European Business Events industry
  • Experience in managing budgets and organising events
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for exploring new approaches and solutions is essential
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines whilst managing and prioritising workloads
  • Ability to work and thrive managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment, working autonomously using own initiative or within a small team
  • Proficiency in Google Suite/Microsoft Office and computer literate, ideally with Salesforce or other CRM experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence (own car is not required)
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities - must have experience in project managing events and report writin

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute sales and marketing activities to deliver lead generation for leading business events destination(s), with particular focus on the large B2B conference and incentive sectors.
  • Proactive prospecting and sourcing new business leads through industry network and sales calls
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with client(s) as well as manage the day to day activity of the account and client needs.
  • Arrange and conduct sales calls, sales missions and other events to promote the destination client, with strong budget management and buyer recruitment skills.
  • Co-ordinate all marketing plans and sales activities. As the account manager you will ensure successful delivery of all campaigns and activities planned for the year.
  • Represent the destination at various trade shows, FAM trips and events in the UK and abroad. Frequent overnight domestic and international travel may be required in the role – approx. 50-60 days per year.
  • Work effectively within a team, showing both leadership and cooperation skills, to achieve client objectives and to support synergy across client accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the Business Events industry i.e. handle event enquiries (via email, telephone and meetings), maintain a corporate and agency database as well as proactively attend meetings, social functions and networking events to maximise the client’s profile.
