The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning’s businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable completed vocational training in computer science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• Very good knowledge of English, any other language is an added value.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a system engineering role.
• Extensive knowledge of IT systems and methodologies.
• Experience with managing Windows services
• Proficiency in system management and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

DESIRED SKILLS

• Knowledge of network protocols and security
• Experience with Elasticsearch
• Familiarity with RabbitMQ

ROLE PURPOSE

We are looking for a motivated and experienced System Engineer to join our team at Corning Optical communication. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and maintaining IT systems as part of the business integration team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, install, and support the business integration’s system infrastructure.
• Evaluate and modify system’s performance.
• Determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve system problems.
• Develop and execute testing procedures for system components and applications.
• Provide system updates and make recommendations for improvements.
• Create and maintain documentation for system procedures and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with other IT and business teams to support and maintain business operations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to users.
• Carry out regular system audits, software upgrades and migrations.
• Evaluate and assess new applications and their compatibility with the existing IT environment.
