Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Business Manager in our Performance and Planning business unit, you’ll play a key role in helping to support the financial performance, discipline and achievement of commercial outcomes across Technology NZ. This role is responsible for ensuring that the business goals are consistently met in an effective & efficient manner while creating a greater alignment between business priorities and objectives, while minimising risk and maximising business efficiencies. Can undertake activities such as business planning, analysis of performance against budget, governance, sales forecasting, delivery of specific business unit initiatives; and generally supports the business to achieve priorities. These positions require a broad range of capabilities, people management expertise and strong knowledge of LoB being supported.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
This role will support establishment and management of mechanisms for commercial outcome tracking, while supporting senior stakeholders to coordinate their updates into this process. It will also include providing oversight of the in-year portfolio of Tech owned initiatives and ensuring that these are tracking to forecast, with a robust change management and quarterly review process in place.
Working with the Strategic Execution Lead, Finance, Commercial Management and the Performance Lead to ensure alignment of delivery and commercial performance with Tech NZ strategic objectives.
Maintaining an accurate central view of status and forward roadmap of activity – operational and senior stakeholder reporting
Supporting regular planning, prioritisation, and reporting processes relating to Tech owned initiatives or other commercial outcomes
Contributing to regular execution updates to the Technology Leadership Team and meeting other reporting needs as required.
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
This role requires a generalist, execution oriented mindset and experience rather than a pure Finance/Accounting skillset. However, the candaiate should possess strong commercial and business acumen. The ‘must have’ knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strong time management skills and attention to detail, while also demonstrating flexibility to respond to short notice requests
Experience in business or project planning/management, or other relevant experience in establishing and working in a structured way towards a business outcome while demonstrating measurable progress throughout
Business/commercial acumen
Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to understand and analyse problems and identify solutions in a structured way.
Must be able to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
Competency in working with large data sets and with data analysis tools, including Excel. Must be able to analyse data and derive actionable insights.
Self-motivated and able to work independently
