The West Vancouver Financial & Corporate Services Department is currently seeking a permanent full-time Business Manager to join our highly qualified team.
As a key member of the team, the Business Manager provides relevant and value-added financial planning, analysis and reporting to the Director of Finance & Corporate Services. This role is responsible for all aspects of the annual financial planning, budgeting and for the preparation and provision of timely reporting and forecasting. The Business Manager supports the Finance & Corporate Services Division by providing financial advisory services, playing a key role in all aspects of financial planning, operational and capital reporting, including ad hoc financial and funding analysis, project management and financial modeling.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Supporting the Financial & Corporate Services division by linking departmental business plans and work programs, performance measures and budgets, to the Corporate Strategic Plan and Council Priorities;
  • Assisting managers in the division to develop annual and multi-year operating budgets and long-range capital plans;
  • Performing operating and capital financial reviews and reports, including variance analysis and developing full-scale financial reports in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Organizing the financial functions of the division including developing and tracking budgets, monitoring revenues and expenses and management of leases;
  • Supporting the division’s managers in assessing and modeling for new revenue or cost saving opportunities;
  • Developing and maintaining the asset management program for the division’s infrastructure assets, ensuring accountability of assets, verifying inventory or assets, developing and implementing procedures;
  • Providing advisory services, including training and education, on a wide range of financial management, budgetary, system and fiscal control issues;
  • Participating in Finance led projects and committees and speaks on behalf of the Division on projects for specific needs;
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with other operating Divisions to leverage collaboration;
  • Participating in other duties and special projects as required.

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline, and considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting and budgets, municipal policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and practices;
  • Ability to research and produce reports and correspondence on a wide variety of financial topics;
  • Ability to anaylze and exercise a considerable degree of sound independent judgement and confidentiality in resolving problems;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

A CPA designation or working on final stages of an accounting program from CPA would be considered an asset.

$102,200.00 – $115,100.00 per annum
