The London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE), led by the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences (BMEIS) at King’s College London (KCL), is part of the vision for St Thomas’ MedTech Hub. About the role
The London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operational Assistant to support the efficient running of our office and operational functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in office management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role is critical to maintaining smooth day-to-day operations.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 3 years in the first instance. This role will require full time working on site, 5 days/week.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Proven experience in office management or similar administrative roles, ideally within a healthcare, research, or academic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with an exceptional eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time effectively to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with office management software or tools.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience with budget management and financial tracking, with a good understanding of expense monitoring and reporting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements in an office or research setting.
  • Familiarity with event coordination and handling logistics for professional meetings, conferences, or workshops.
  • Experience working within an academic, healthcare, or MedTech-related organization.
