BUSINESS PARTNER, HEALTH PLATFORMS

Alberta Innovates is seeking a full-time Business Partner, Health Platforms who will assist the Executive Director, Health Platforms in organizing, planning, and facilitating the intake for multiple programs (i.e. AbSPORU, ACRC, IDEATE, ARECCI) and be the knowledge expert involved in development and training of the clinical research management system (i.e. EDGE). The individual will also participate in the development of common processes, tools and guidance documents, and a seamless exchange of information that meet the needs of stakeholders with the aim of creating an effective research and innovation ecosystem. The Business Partner also assists the Health Platform and other internal stakeholders with external relationship management, communications, and strategic planning.
This is a full-time permanent role, to be based in our Edmonton downtown office. Under our current Choose How U Work program, flexible work may be arranged after probation period of six months.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health services administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years in clinical health research, public health, health promotion, and/or health system and innovation in Alberta; understanding of the regulations preferred
  • Minimum 3 years in working at the interfaces between research and related areas (the academic, healthcare, and policy sectors as well as industry)
  • Experience managing external stakeholders and clients to co-develop and co-deliver opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, senior leaders and external partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail that reflects ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, competing agendas and heavy client demands
  • Tactful, diplomatic and persuasive
  • Strategic thinker and results oriented; ability to identify innovative solutions to complex issues

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Executive Director, Health Platforms in leading and managing processes to design, plan and develop the programs within Health Platforms, taking into account advice and direction from the Health management and the Initiative’s senior leadership group
  • Liaises and communicates with key stakeholder groups and networks within and outside the province to promote awareness and understanding of Health Platforms to encourage relevant knowledge exchange for the benefit of the programs.
  • Monitors and reports activities related to the development and implementation of the programs to ensure its timely and effective launch
  • Manages the intake of all the health platform programs (i.e. AbSPORU, ARECCI, ACRC, and IDEATE). The position ensures not only appropriateness of the request but also helps refer and triages individuals across the programs.
  • EDGE Knowledge user (SME) for the province that supports ongoing training, compliance with SOPs, is the first line of response from the sites, liaisons with EDGE-UK monthly and nationally on a quarter basis bringing forward the concerns of Alberta, also works with EDGE-UK to suggest development items.
  • Internally, the position builds in EDGE after discussion with the program, custom fields/forms to assist in the management and reporting of projects.
  • Health Platforms CRM representative that ensures communication/consistency between the two systems: CRM and EDGE
  • Works with the ED to support AbSPORU
  • Support all the other programs as needed (i.e. events, workshops, categorizing of projects aligning to the AH streams
