Reporting to the Director of Finance, Shared Services, we are seeking a Business Process Manager to join our dynamic team. This role will initially support Bird’s Shared Services department, with the potential for future growth into other areas of Finance. The Shared Services department is home to our highly transactional payroll and accounts payable teams, where process efficiency and automation are crucial for success.
The position is based in the Calgary office. Occasional travel may be required to Bird’s Edmonton and Winnipeg offices.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Evaluate existing business processes to identify innovative solutions to enhance business processes optimization.
  • Develop and implement process enhancement strategies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead cross-functional discussions aimed at process improvement, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify key process gaps and trends, measure process performance, and drive informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables and effectively communicate proposed process changes to gain buy-in from all stakeholders.
  • Review, create, and maintain process documentation, including workflows, procedures, and standards.
  • Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of business processes.
  • Analyze performance data and generate reports to track progress and identify areas for further improvement.
  • Facilitate change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and practices.
  • Provide training and support to employees to help them understand and adapt to process changes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in business process management.
  • Identify potential risks associated with business processes and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards captured in all process-related activities.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, or related discipline or equivalent years of experience in Finance functions are a must have for this role
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis and process development with a focus on payroll and/or P2P considered an asset
  • Demonstrated success in business process development, showcasing strong project delivery methodologies and capabilities
  • Experience with ERP or operational system implementations related to Finance functions (such as AP, AR, Payroll, GL, etc.) is preferred
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel skillset and knowledge
  • Experience working in Viewpoint (TC1) considered an asset
  • Knowledge of standard payroll and procure-to-pay processes, regulatory requirements across Canada, and relevant compliance standards is preferred
  • Excellent communications skills, customer service oriented and a team player
  • Ability to manage a large volume of work and can consistently meet deadlines while ensuring high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple group
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
