Description:

The Worldwide Deal Desk is an integral component of Microsoft’s Worldwide Commercial Finance organization, reporting directly to Microsoft’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Amy Hood. The Deal Desk comprises over 300 employees and is renowned throughout Microsoft for generating billions of dollars in valuable business through their expertise in deal-making. Deal Managers at the Deal Desk make informed decisions, leveraging their business acumen and collaborating closely with field sellers on aspects such as Deal Structuring, Pricing, Investments, Terms and Conditions, across both Commercial and Services businesses.
This role is positioned within the Deal Desk (DD) Execution Team, which is responsible for partnering with Deal Managers globally on Global End Customer Investment Fund (ECIF) and Global Azure Credit Offering (ACO) Investments, instrumental in securing our most strategic and significant deals. The focus of the role includes coaching global Deal Managers on End Customer Investment Funding (ECIF) and Azure Credit Offering (ACO) investment requests, providing expertise on selected investment business topics, and collaborating with all business partners, both within and outside of the Deal Desk, on your areas of expertise.
We are seeking a Business Program Manager of Deal Desk Investments who possesses a robust sales and deal-making background, or a seller with program management skills, who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where agility and timely execution are paramount. The candidate should be passionate about engaging with Deal Managers and Sales Teams in the field, comfortable discussing all Microsoft products and licensing forms. Creativity, resourcefulness, and a willingness to take risks are essential qualities. Furthermore, as a vital member of the DD Investment Team, the candidate should be adaptable to change and enthusiastic about undertaking broader projects and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 4+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business program management and sales skills are essential.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required, as demonstrated in sales or program management roles, preferably within Microsoft.
  • Storytelling abilities that enhance customer and business partner engagement.
  • Experience in engaging with Decision Makers and Senior Executives.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Products and Solutions, including the high-level aspects of migration, deployment and implementation.
  • Proven track record of significant impact through cross-group collaboration and partnerships with Finance and Sales teams.
  • Willingness to be hands-on in completing tasks or going beyond the call of duty.
  • Adaptable and quick to learn, operating with a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Deal Managers on Global End Customer Investment (ECIF) and Azure Credit Offering (ACO) proposals, ensuring they possess all necessary information for informed investment decisions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for specific Investment-related inquiries from Deal Managers and business partners.
  • Proactively engage the DD Investment Support team with Deal Managers working on investment proposals, delivering the anticipated value.
  • Verify that ECIF and ACO proposals adhere to Microsoft and DD funding policies and guidelines, identify non-standard cases, and drive the compliance process in collaboration with Finance, Compliance, Operations, Revenue Recognition, and other corporate business partners.
  • Partner with the DD Readiness team to ensure that Investment Ask processes are comprehensively understood by Deal Managers and business partners.
  • Collaborate intimately with Finance teams on all financially relevant aspects of investments and deals.
  • Work with business partners, especially Finance, to refine and implement Deal Desk Empowerment policies for the Global Investments business.
  • Generate business insights and document learnings to disseminate through weekly/monthly newsletters and interactions with the field.
  • Focus on process optimization and simplification.
  • Remain receptive to job enrichment opportunities, which may lead to additional responsibilities in the mid-to-long term.
