- APS6 Level: $92,210 - $104,135 (plus 15.4% superannuation and allowances)

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is seeking to recruit multiple Business Register Analyst (APS6) within the Business Register Unit (BRU).
About the area and role
The Business Register Unit, in the Statistical Infrastructure Division, manages a high quality, real world, real time statistical business register (ABS Business Register) that enables coherent and integrated data series.
The ABS Business Register supports economic surveys, business demography information and data integration programs, to enable the production of high-quality statistics and timely new insights.
As a Business Register Analyst you will manage a team to maintain, quality assure and develop the Business Register data asset using various datasets (incl. ATO, ABR, ASIC, APRA, etc), through data cleaning, data coding, data linking, and statistical analysis techniques. You will undertake research, and design and implement solutions to improve data quality and produce statistical products and insights from the ABS Business Register. Key to success in this team is a well-developed toolbox of technical skills and excellent critical thinking in order to analytically consider data, identifying patterns and extract actionable insights and information from the data.
In addition, to meeting the Integrated Leadership APS6 work level standards, primary accountabilities will include:
- Lead, manage and develop a small team to promote a culture of high performance.
- Manage projects to improve data processes, integrate new data sources or develop new data products.
- Applying conceptual and analytical skills to identify and investigate data issues and manage data processes.
- Build strong, collaborative internal and external stakeholder relationships to maintain and improve the quality of ABS Business Register data and maximize user understanding and value.
- The Business Register Unit consists of approx. 50 people largely based in Melbourne, with 1-2 staff in Canberra, Hobart and Adelaide.
