ABOUT US
The Department of Psychiatry is a diverse city-wide clinical academic department at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. The department encompasses the University, London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), St. Joseph’s Health Care, London (SJHC), London and St. Thomas, and the Child and Parent Resources Institute (CPRI).
The vision for the Department of Psychiatry is to be the acknowledged Centre of Excellence for psychiatric care and discovery in South Western Ontario with a mission to translate clinical research into treatment and provide regional consultation within interdisciplinary models of care. The Department of Psychiatry is comprised of approximately 80 Clinical Academics, 7 Basic Research Scientists, 36 trainees and 12 administrative staff including the Manager, Administration & Finance.
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant area of focus with ongoing Master’s degree in a related fiel
Experience:
- 1 year previous research and/or innovation experience in the health fiel
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Demonstrated passion for mental health and addiction care among young and emerging adults
- Develop concrete, actionable business plans for already developed solutions – including marketing, distribution, and monitoring/assessment
- Create marketing content for social media releases and promotion
- Work closely with the Research and Innovation teams to provide business expertise to new prototype development
- Attend in person or teleconference meetings and notify if unable to attend
- Contribute to developing agenda and meeting materials
- Demonstrate respect and consideration for ideas and viewpoints expressed by others
- Participate to the best of their ability
- Observe confidentiality at all times
- Recent extracurricular and/or professional experience within the youth mental health sector
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of research and innovation activities
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Canva, and Artificial Intelligence Apps
- Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues and peers in a collaborative approach
- Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders

Responsibilities:
The MINDS Business Student will develop a business plan for current and future solutions developed by the MINDS social innovation lab to ensure breadth and depth of dissemination in the local London-Middlesex community and pathways to scale beyond. Business plans will include marketing, distribution, and monitoring/assessment of solutions. This role will also be responsible for supporting the Research and Innovation teams. The Business Student may also be directly involved in MINDS’ activities as a facilitator (i.e., for external-facing workshops, meetings and convenings) and subject matter expert as new solutions are being developed.
The MINDS Business Student will report directly to the Associate Director of Research and Operations and will work closely with the Research and Innovation teams.
This position is a 0.25 FTE (approximately 10 hours/week) temporary position.
