Overview of Department
The Business Risk department within Baillie Gifford Europe is responsible for monitoring and assessing the risk exposures of the company against our risk appetite and consider the adequacy of the control environment. We focus on the key risks, helping the company to avoid, pre-empt or mitigate serious issues, invest in improving client service, and learn from our mistakes. As well as being responsible for the company’s risk management framework and ensuring that it is aligned with our strategy and culture, we have a wide remit covering emerging risks, capital adequacy, and business continuity plans.
Purpose of Role
Working with the Designated Person (DP) for Fund Risk Management you will play a key role in developing and delivering a robust fund risk oversight framework across our UCITS Fund range in line with the requirements from the Central Bank of Ireland and the Board of Directors.
The candidate will work closely with the Group Business Risk team, and other colleagues across Investment Management, Trading, Operations and Compliance areas as it relates to our European business.
This role is based in our Dublin office.
Responsibilities

As a Business Risk Analyst you will have a varied role, including, but not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Assist the Designated Person for Fund Risk Management in maintaining an effective risk management framework within BGE to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as set out in UCITS and local regulations. This includes coverage of all aspects of investment risk, liquidity risk, credit risk and market risk.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of local risk management policies and procedures, together with adequate risk management systems, to identify, measure, manage and monitor risks appropriately, on an on-going basis.
  • Monitoring and management of risk exposures against limits, including the performance of stress testing
  • Support and quality control the monitoring of ESG risk for our Article 8 and Article 9 funds.
  • Analyse outputs from risk systems and processes and escalate matters identified to the Designated Person and Board as required
  • Provide support in the production of monthly management information packs for senior management and materials for Board reporting.
  • Contribute to the continual development of the quality and efficiency of the analysis and monitoring performed.
  • As a member of the group Business Risk function, participation in group and/or regional risk management initiatives

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Operational awareness of investment management process would be helpful. (Preferred)
  • Fund risk experience in a fund management environment, preferably in a management company.

Qualifications

  • IMC or a willingness to work towards obtaining this qualification, support will be given.
