An exciting and rewarding position exists within the Sydney South team of our growing National Accounting and Business Services, Property Tax and Wealth Advisory firm for a Business Services Accountant to join our team.
Our office hours are 8:45am to 5:15pm Monday to Friday, with a 1-hour lunch, based out of our Sydney South office in Menai, Sutherland Shire, full-time.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Business Services Accountant to join our firm. The successful candidate will have completed a relevant tertiary degree and be a reliable, motivated, and well-presented individual who has a mature and proactive approach to work. They will have at least 12 months experience in a comparable Public Practice Accounting role.
In this role, your duties will include:
- Collect and analyse financial information to accurately complete individual income tax return, ensuring compliance with regulations and maximising available deductions, offsets, and credits.
- Preparation of monthly / quarterly activity Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and review of return prepared by fellow team members.
- Assist with preparing PAYG withholding tax variation applications to align tax withholdings with client income and cash flow circumstances, ensuring accurate calculations and submissions.
- Prepare and present financial statements for directors, management, shareholders, and statutory bodies, and generate management reports for decision-making.
- Communicate directly with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to address client tax issues, lodge necessary documents, and resolve compliance matters. Assistance with the preparation of management reports for analysing financial performance and key metrics to support business decision-making for business clients.
- Support accounting team members through mentorship, training, and quality reviews,
- Paraplanning support for the financial planning division
- Provide financial data, reconciliations, and documentation to assist the audit team in completing engagements efficiently and in compliance with auditing standards.
The successful applicant will need to have:
- Bachelor degree or higher in relevant field
- 12 months comparable experience in a Public Practice Accounting role
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated
- Enjoy working as part of a team
