Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria’s newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody.
Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Industry Manager and Vocational Service Manager, you will support the development and delivery of vocational services in new ways, using technology and innovation to shape the way the service functions. You will support on activities relating to the recruitment and creation of dynamic teams to ensure the facility is operational. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to building a high performing culture and deliver meaningful outcomes in reducing reoffending. Once operational, you will support on day-to-day operational needs of the prison work programs, employability and education, contributing to the ongoing strategic planning, implementation, and improvement of prison operations in a changing environment. This includes supporting on activities relating to prisoner work, employment, education and prison industries, ensuring that relevant prison policies and procedures are followed. You will be supporting senior staff in liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that offender management issues and requirements are being met. This position is a key contributor in supporting functions across the Barwon Prison Precinct.
