Description:

Applications are invited for the position of Business Systems Analyst in the Information Technology Services Department, located at the Welland Campus. The starting hourly rate is $44.52/hr (Pay Band K - $44.52/hr to $51.62/hr) for a 40 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.
Reporting to the Director, Project Portfolio Office, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes to achieve the College’s strategic and operational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) year degree/diploma in Business, Social Science, Humanities, Applied Health, Mathematics, Science or related field of study.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in the Information Technology field, which includes business analysis, business process improvement and project leadership.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Well versed in both the software development and project management life cycles.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be able to elicit, prepare and present clear and concise written materials for IT initiatives related to new or enhanced systems and solutions to various audiences. Written materials include business cases proposals, process flows, business requirements, solution briefings, reports and findings.
  • Experience in using various business analysis tools and techniques to model, document and manage business analysis activities.
  • Business analysis and/or project management certification is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • The Business Systems Analyst acts as an internal consultant and provides expertise in identifying the business needs of College stakeholders, to determine solutions to business problems.
  • A key facilitator within the organization, acts as a bridge between business units and ITS in the elicitation and documentation of accurate, comprehensive requirements to support systems development and implementation.
  • Generating and compiling reports based on their findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues.
  • Leading medium to large sized business process improvement and IT initiatives across the College following defined project management methodologies and must foster and maintain successful and productive relationships with the college user community at large to ensure projects are implemented on time, on budget, meeting expectations.
  • Continuously gains an understanding of the College’s operations and processes and how systems are used in support of those operations.
  • Works under general direction within a clear framework of accountability and exercises substantial personal responsibility and accountability to deliver results.
