Requirements:
Wausau Equipment Company in New Berlin, Wisconsin is adding a Buyer to the Supply Chain team!
In this role, the Buyer maintains a supplier base that supports organizational objectives regarding quality, cost and production requirements. The Buyer is a member of the Supply Chain team.
- Assist with sourcing, ordering and expediting of materials. Has direct responsibility for ordering materials managed by the MRP.
- Manage MRP changes with the supply base to determine and support material availability. Review and validate immediate and forecasted purchase requirements. Update and modify PO and inventory schedules as required.
- Scheduling of purchased parts to support the requirement date of the production schedule as well as service forecast/backorder requirements.
- Following up with suppliers and expediting as required to ensure on-time delivery.
- Manage on-time delivery performance of the supply base by resolving constraints whether they exist at the supplier level or internally.
- Improve supplier relationships. Serve as primary day-to-day contact for designated suppliers for scheduling and delivery of all purchased parts in support of production and service needs.
- Assist in managing inventory balances in support of inventory “turns” goals and customer flexibility requirements.
- Select vendors for the purchase of parts at the most cost effective price, ensuring the meeting of quality standards and delivery requirements.
- Monitor and follow-up with production as required ensuring the timely flow of manufactured materials through the factories.
- Maintain records associated with the purchasing function, supplying relevant information to the accounting, sales and production functions as required.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
- Responsible for working closely with the production staff to ensure non-conforming materials are identified and are accurately processed in a timely manner.
- Is hands on with inventory storage and all improvement projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’S):
- Must be able to analyze technical data in supplier’s proposals.
- Ability to aggressively, yet professionally negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget, schedule and technical requirements.
- Possess strong computer skills: Excel, Word
- Must understand and have worked with an MRP system; experience with JD Edwards is preferred.
- Possess excellent communications skills and strong negotiations skills.
- Develop and present ideas and findings to peers and senior management levels.
- Experience and or knowledge of Lean Principles preferred.
- Experience with “point of use” inventory, working in a team environment.
- Self-driven, high energy, and possesses a positive attitude. Works well with others, is respectful and trustworthy.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor level degree in Business, Supply Chain or similar area of study preferred.
- A minimum of three years of buying experience in a manufacturing production environment utilizing MRP.
- CPM, CPSM, CSM or CPIM desired.
