We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join our MRO procurement team in Calgary.

Role Summary

  • Request and evaluate quotes for parts required to support production and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with De Havilland’s suppliers improving the day-to-day relationship between De Havilland and its supply chain partners.
  • Be the interface between internal teams and a group of our world-class aerospace supply chain partners.
  • Actively participate in ongoing Continuous Improvement.
  • Advise Production planning and execution teams of all potential material delays or problems that will affect production scheduling.
  • Update Purchase Order delivery dates and pricing changes on a daily basis to ensure the latest information is available to all departments through the ERP.
  • Ongoing review, management and coordination of vendor-related engineering changes.
  • Engage fully with the metrics-based performance management system.
  • Monitor material inventories including min/max levels and reserved material on a regular basis.
  • Participate in supplier negotiations and strategies around vendor consolidation.
  • Adhere to material spend and inventory goals.
  • Seek to develop skills and experience by proactively participating in professional training and development programs.
  • Be accountable for managing the ongoing and assured supply of aircraft parts and services in line with De Havilland’s requirements.
  • Key accountabilities include supplier-delivered quality, on-time delivery performance, cost, inventory, and vendor continuous improvement.
  • Adopt model behaviors and methodologies consistent with good quality, health and safety, and environmental management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • On-time release of purchase orders to ERP demand and product lead times.
  • On-time delivery of vendor-supplied aircraft products and services.
  • Maintaining purchase order integrity in line with ERP system and managing exception messages generated from ERP system.
  • Working with De Havilland Supplier Quality Assurance, ensure that all vendors strictly adhere to De Havilland’s Quality Management System.
  • Engage fully with De Havilland’s metric-based performance management system.
  • Adhering to material spend and inventory goals.

Education & Experience

  • 2-5 years of Purchasing and or Procurement experience.
  • Experience in the Aerospace sector is a benefit.
  • Preference will be given to individuals with post-secondary education or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting and/or Inventory Control.

Skills

  • Familiarity with manufacturing and maintenance operations.
  • Experience in LEAN environments.
  • Strong communication skills and a strong drive to resolve issues whenever they arise.
