SUMMARY:
DMC is currently looking for a Buyer, to join our team on a fulltime basis, based in our Sudbury Ontario location. The Buyer is accountable for the effective operation of on-site procurement activities, including but not limited to, transportation, receiving and shipping of all goods. The Buyer is responsible for supplier management, market research and analysis, cost optimization, and compliance and risk management. The Buyer will conduct all business matters with the highest degree of ethics, discretion, honesty, fairness, and sound business practices as per industry standards and DMC Mining Services Policies and Procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of experience in purchasing. Experience and knowledge of contract formation, warehousing functions, and inventory control are considered an asset.
- Degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field considered an asset.
- Proven experience as a buyer or procurement specialist in a similar industry.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks at any given time.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities:
- Identify potential suppliers and evaluate their products/services to determine their suitability for our organization.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and prices with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality goods/services.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and product availability.
- Analyze market data to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement strategies.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand their needs and requirements for purchasing goods/services.
- Develop and implement cost-effective procurement strategies to achieve budgetary goals.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through negotiation, supplier consolidation, and alternative sourcing methods.
- Monitor and track expenses related to purchasing activities and identify areas for cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations in all purchasing activities.
- Evaluate supplier contracts and agreements to mitigate risks and protect the company’s interests.
- Stay informed about market trends, geopolitical factors, and other external influences that may impact procurement decisions.
- Maintain an accurate ledger, for auditing purposes, and assist accounting in working with the vendor to resolve invoicing discrepancies.
- Develop and comply with reports for management.
- Revise and verify customer’s orders, to ensure purchase order accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure the timely delivery of materials as per Project requests.
- Other related duties as may be assigned.
