Description:

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.
Fort Knox prioritizes being a strong contributor to the State and local communities, and since 2001, has helped support more than 300 community partners and has contributed more than US$25 million to the Alaska Mental Health Trust.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Purchase all materials, goods, and services for all operations, maintenance, and support functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Art in business administration and/or business courses/certifications preferred.
  • Previous experience with the preparation of request for quotations, quotation analysis, and negotiations.

SKILLS

  1. Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume work environment.
  2. Strong negotiation skills to work with suppliers to achieve cost savings for the company
  3. Knowledge of materials management, logistics, and transportation.
  4. Knowledge of governmental regulations concerning material shipments.
  5. Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  6. Must have clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Knowledge of computerized purchase order system and tracking with good data processing skills.
  8. Must be proficient in computer systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  9. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  10. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  11. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  12. Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.

Responsibilities:

  1. Process requisitions into Purchase Orders for the procurement of materials and services with attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
  2. Coordinate logistics and trace orders until delivery is complete or canceled.
  3. Provide timely feedback to end users on status on orders until delivery to site
  4. Utilize competitive processes in procurement activities to achieve cost savings for the company.
  5. Demonstrate professionalism and maintain adequate internal and external relations.
  6. Strategizes with departments for future procurement requirements.
  7. Ability to recognize areas of improvement and offer suggestions for continuous improvement.
  8. Demonstrate competency in understanding special purchasing conditions and commercial terms in relation to contracts for the site.
  9. Perform data entry, typing, filling, and other clerical functions to maintain accurate records.
  10. Reconcile and resolve inconsistencies in relation to purchase orders; invoices, warehouse receipts, etc.
  11. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
  12. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
  13. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  14. Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
  15. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
  16. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.
