Are you in a buying role at the moment? We’d like to hear from you! In this fast-paced and exciting area of our business, you will be given the responsibility to develop and manage product categories through detailed market and consumer behaviour analysis. This will involve continuously sourcing new suppliers, promoting product innovation, ensuring a top-quality offering at the lowest possible price for our customers.
Our buyers bring the most exciting products to our shelves and help us deliver great value to customers.
What you’ll do
- Completing regular competitor and assortment analysis and product group comparisons
- Tasting and conducting quality checks in consultation with the Quality Assurance department
- New product development
- Negotiating and building relationships with national and international suppliers
- Working in collaboration with other related departments such as Social Media, Marketing and Promotional Planning to help manage and drive our product categories
- Setting and reviewing retail prices on a regular basis
- Managing supplier contracts
What you’ll need
- Third-level degree is essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Business or Food Science knowledge is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills
- Confident, motivated and can work independently
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to learn
- A full driving licence is essential
- German language skills are beneficial but not essential
- Food Science / Supply Chain Background
- Previous experience in Food Buying or Manufacturing

Through our salary system, we ensure pay equality across all positions at Lidl
- €49,500 rising to €63,000 after 3 years
- 20 days holidays per annum rising to 25 days after two years
