An exciting and challenging opportunity exists as a Buyer. You will be part of a highly talented group of individuals that ensure we are a menswear fashion leader within our industry.
We are seeking a professional to join our Buying Department and be accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Establishing the seasonal merchandise plan for your commodity
- Developing, presenting, and executing seasonal merchandise plans
- Selecting merchandise which supports the Harry Rosen merchandising philosophy and direction, and which is tailored based on the individual store profile and the unique needs of that store
- Negotiating merchandise agreements with vendors and maintaining successful vendor relationships
- Managing inventory to ensure that gross margin return on paid inventory is maximized – maintain basic stock, maintain and monitor current OTB, schedule deliveries, rebalance merchandise, and recall goods
- Analyze all aspects of the business - sales, sell through, GM, turn, store level results
- Maintaining open communications with Store and Central Office Management
- Source and evaluate vendors for private label development
- Prepare sell thru report to bring/send to vendor appointment
- Source product for outlet locations and mainline margin OP buys as needed
- Market research and retail landscape awareness including positive/negative business trends to manage risk
- Review and adjust basic inventory assortment
- Support Trunk Show/In Store Event
- Regular Store Visits with set agenda
- Travel as required, US & International
The successful candidate will have the following background/experience:
- University Degree in a related discipline
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ Buying experience
- Demonstrated experience with Men’s Luxury Brands in a high-volume multi-brand retailer
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of categories including Clothing, Footwear and lifestyle
- Ability to manage a portfolio of brands
- Strong budgeting and financial planning skills
- Strong critical decision making and negotiation skills
- An exceptional orientation to detail
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong sense of urgency with the proven ability to set and meet deadlines
- Exceptional computer skills, specifically Excel and Outlook
- Retail experience, an asset
