Description:
BUYER (PURCHASING DEPARTMENT)
All duties listed below are to be carried out under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, who may also require project work and/or other duties not specified to be undertaken.
This position is full time and will be based out of our Loughton office.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the for direct procurement of components and materials for all production requirements and the indirect procurement of acquiring products and services that support business’s operations
- Maintaining the company’s Purchasing Databases and actioning Purchasing Reports to manage the procurement and supply of purchased components
- To maintain knowledge of key departmental and company procedures ensuring that these are followed, meeting all responsibilities contained within them
- To learn, understand and manage Mechanical Purchasing activities including the management of Sub-Contract orders and vendors
- Build relationships with key stakeholders including the Management team, key departments and vendors
- Action system generated Purchasing Reports and liaise with Production, Planning and Suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials using the ‘5 Rights of Procurement’ – Quality, Quantity, Price, Place and Time
- Action Special Orders and Purchase Requisitions (indirect)
- Manage supplier relationships including supply, quality and account issues to improve supplier performance and build successful supply chain partnerships
- Manage the overdue report and ensure that late deliveries are dealt with effectively
- Co-ordinate and Collaborate with Technical Departments for the approval of new and alternative materials and/or components
- Assist in the introduction of design changes through to implementation, ensuring that the relevant vendors are notified of any changes in a timely manner
- Report and provide solutions of supply chain issues to the Purchasing Manager
- Represent the department and company in a professional manner
- To ensure that the requirements of Health and Safety at work are met
