Description:

We are seeking a Buyer Specialist for our team in Watsonville, California. This role will primarily involve creating and managing purchase orders and raw material inventories to support the production schedule and projected demand. The successful candidate will closely monitor supplier performance, ensure timely placement of orders, and work cross-functionally with various teams, including Operations and Quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Timely execution of system generated planning/ordering tasks to ensure accuracy
  • Maintenance of reorder points based on daily reorder/shortage reports and forecasting
  • Collaboration with the Purchasing Director to ensure the availability of required materials
  • Daily coordination with Operations, Quality, and Finance teams to resolve purchasing related issues
  • Maintenance of current and accurate system data for purchases, including price, freight, and promised ship date
  • Action taking when promised ship date exceeds expectations
  • Negotiation of purchased material prices and challenging non-conforming and/or underperforming Suppliers
  • Collaborative work with the Quality function to establish new product specifications and hold vendors accountable for meeting existing specifications
  • Following all procurement guidelines around Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) practices and monitoring supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
