JOB DESCRIPTION
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Purchasing and Sourcing team in the Instrument and Enterprise Services (IES) division at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Service Parts Buyer. This role is responsible for the organization and procurement of service materials (spare parts, consumables) within our IES division to meet our customers’ requirements. As a Service Parts Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the flawless procurement of materials aligned with our order plan to exceed customer satisfaction goals.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ideally, a Bachelor’s degree and/or further vocational training (e.g., APICS, CIPS, BME) and/or comparable many years of experience in the supply chain environment.
- Knowledge of supply chain principles and material management in an international and fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills (data gathering, interpretation, problem-solving).
- Experience with the characteristics and complexity of a service organization and spare parts supply chain is an advantage.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, solve problems, and handle multiple priorities to ensure goals are met on time.

- Excellent interpersonal skills required; both orally and in writing.
- Excellent digital literacy required; Efficiency in SAP, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Thermo Fisher’s customer satisfaction goals are met or exceeded through procurement of materials/spare parts aligned with the order plan.
- Procurement of service parts to support spare parts needs worldwide and primarily for the European Distribution centre (EDC).
- Proactively identify and manage areas of supply risk, understanding developments and changes at suppliers that may affect the supply of materials, and taking appropriate measures to maintain delivery capability.
- Build relationships with suppliers of service parts, and their tactical/daily procurement, ensuring that IES requirements are met.
- Responsible for supplier relationship management, including weekly and monthly review meetings to discuss performance and opportunities.
- Work closely with other departments of the IES Supply Chain (Logistics, Demand Planning, Master Data, Sourcing) to resolve problems, determine solutions, and drive process optimization.
- Support the needs of field service technicians by presenting delivery status and accelerating much-needed materials to achieve committed delivery times.
- Review and evaluation of suppliers with regard to compliance with agreed service level agreements, particularly delivery times.
- Demonstrate proven and logical sourcing knowledge to achieve overall cost reductions.
- Support the organization in all vital lifecycle activities (obsolescence, discontinuation, new part introduction).
- Comparison of orders, order confirmations, and ASNs, as well as maintenance of data in SAP or databases.
- Ensure the integrity and maintenance of critical material master fields such as throughput time, MRP type, etc.
- Participate in and initiate process improvements using the PPI methodology.
- Participate in cost reduction and productivity improvement programs.
- Solve special tasks and projects in the area of IES Supply Chain as needed.
