THE OPPORTUNITY -
This role is working within The C-17A Australian Sustainment Services Contract (ASSC) program. The ASSC team are proactive, professional and focused on providing the best possible customer support. We are seeking an experienced Senior Aerospace Mechanical/Structural Engineer to support the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing C-17A platform. As a key member of the Engineering team, you will support the BDA C-17A Australian Sustainment Services Program which is essential in ensuring continuing airworthiness of the aircraft under the Defence Airworthiness Safety Regulations (DASR).
The role is based in RAAF Base Amberley, QLD.
As a Mechanical/Structural Engineer you will be:
- Responsible for execution of the Continuing Airworthiness Management (CAM) activities through the different phases of the aircraft life cycle and operation;
- Sustaining safe, high tempo flight operations through engineering activities including technical analysis, flight safety review, investigations, modifications and repairs;
- Providing risk advice to the Military Air Operator (MAO) or Military Type Certificate Holder (MTCH) concerning proposed non-standard aircraft operations or the safety implications of incidents or events;
- Monitor and manage incoming Technical Information (TI) to assess its relevance and importance to the aircraft product and providing regular status information on engineering tasks to stakeholders;
- Oversight and implementation of routine aircraft maintenance activities and provide recommendations for RAAF Configuration Role and Environment (CRE);
- Engaging effectively with team members, leaders and technical representatives including RAAF and The Boeing Company (TBC) personnel.
To be considered for the role you will have
- Must hold tertiary Engineering qualifications in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical specialisations from a nationally accredited program;
- 8+ years Engineering experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrable active knowledge working within a regulated design organisation environment (civil or military aviation), including experience in certification of mechanical systems, interiors and structural aircraft type design changes; and
- Experience within Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Experience working within a regulated continuing airworthiness environment (civil or military aviation).
- Active knowledge of system safety analysis requirements (FAR/CS 2x.1309 or MIL-STD-882) and interfaces to related disciplines of health hazards, human factors and software safety.
Responsibilities:
