Job Summary
We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a CAD Designer to join our team. The CAD Designer will work with multi-disciplined engineering, design, and project teams in developing design drawings utilizing AutoCAD and other related products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create, edit, and modify AutoCAD drawings based on design provided by engineers
  • Utilize annotation for clarification
  • Develop and read reinforced concrete and steel drawings as well as mechanical and shop drawings
  • Collaborate with engineers and shop and construction operations to meet fabrication and constructability requirements.

Typical Design will Consist of:

  • Foundation Layout Plans
  • Structural Specifications and Notes
  • Steel Structure Fabrication Drawings
  • Steel Connection Details
  • Concrete Foundation Detail Drawings
  • Assist with design tasks including calculations, load rating, structural modeling and analyses, detailing, quantity and cost estimates with supervision from a senior engineer
  • Understand & meet project schedule, and quality requirements with accuracy and efficiency
  • Self-checks all work performed to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to internal review
  • Actively assist in the delivery of a complete project. This may include phone or e-mail correspondence, attending meetings, and other project documents required for project completion
  • Provide interdepartmental support (Civil, Electrical, Substation, T&D, etc.) as required

Qualifications:

Education

  • College Diploma (in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology) or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering

Experience Required

  • 5 or more years of relevant AutoCAD design experience

Qualifications Required

  • High proficient use of Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Proficient use of Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, construction, and civil plans
  • Experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete or steel plate
  • Understanding of engineering principles and assembly, fabrication, and construction workflows
  • Knowledge of project management software and computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Organized team player able to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment
