CAD ENGINEER

Job Overview:
HF Custom/Sam Moore, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, is seeking a dynamic a CAD Engineer to work in our Bedford, VA location. HF Custom/Sam Moore has been committed to crafting exceptional custom upholstery for over 80 years. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 100th year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods, leather furniture, fabric-upholstered furniture, and outdoor furniture for the residential, hospitality, and contract markets. The CAD Engineer will be an integral part of the engineering team and report to the Director of Engineering.

Main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Digitize all fabric and leather patterns into CAD system.
  • Develop and maintain models, variants, and markers for each active style.
  • Provide cost data for the fabric patterns and kits for every developed style.
  • Review data to achieve the highest possible efficiency for fabric.
  • Analyze all new fabrics and Customers Own Material (C.O.M.) and determine how each fabric is run.
  • Check repeat measurements on all fabrics to ensure quality is consistent with Sam Moore standards.
  • Assist members of Cutting, Sewing, Upholstery, and C.O.M. departments with daily needs.
  • Aid customer service team with yardage quotes for customers.
  • Develop cost profiles for all market samples.
  • Assist with training new CAD room employees.
  • Review all work developed by others before releasing to production.
  • Maintain system maintenance with daily backups and file management.
  • Assist Engineering with the improvement and changing of all developed styles.
  • Assist with the upkeep of different spreadsheets to ensure that all data is accurate.
