CAD TECHNICIAN

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Evolve Dynamics as a full-time CAD Technician, based at our workshop near Farnham, Surrey.
Evolve Dynamics is at the forefront of research, design and development of next generation UAS/UAV systems for the industrial, security & defence sectors.
Our mission is to develop autonomous/semi-autonomous, highly capable, and best in class UAV solutions.
We design and manufacture aircraft, ground control systems, camera/additional payloads and software. Our client base has grown 500% in the last 12 months and includes police forces, the military, fire services and search & rescue teams.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can think creatively, independently identify areas for improvement, tackle potential barriers to progress and propose solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible, thorough and accountable with a sharp eye for detail.
The CAD Technician will work alongside engineers and designers to produce detailed technical drawings and models using SolidWorks. You will play a key role in supporting the design process, ensuring that all drawings meet the required standard and specifications for manufacture and production. The position requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams across projects.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (WITH DEMONSTRABLE EXAMPLES)

• Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications in CAD software are a plus.
• 2+ years of experience as a CAD Technician or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
• Strong understanding of drafting principles and design standards for engineering drawings for manufacturing.
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping, especially 3D printing.
• Familiarity with file management and version control systems.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to catch design errors, inconsistencies, or potential issues before they arise in production.

• Create and maintain datapacks: Develop and maintain up-to-date all relevant documentation required for the production of our entire product portfolio including BOMs, assembly drawings, assembly instructions, manufacturing drawings, painting drawings, STP database, etc.
• Collaborate with Engineers and Designers: Work closely with engineers and design teams to understand project requirements, input feedback, and refine CAD models. Ensure all design criteria and functional specifications are captured in the drawings. Identify, design and build rigs to help precision and efficiency in the production process.
• Support Procurement and Production: Be the link between R&D and production by ensuring that naming conventions are being followed, assembly instructions are available and all datapacks are provided on time for procurement and production. Streamline the efficiency of the Production team by identifying, designing and releasing rigs that simplify the assembly process.
• Set the standard: Help standardise datapacks with internal production and 3rd party manufacturers to align expectations and minimise errors.
• Assist in Design Modifications: When changes are required to existing designs, update CAD files, communicate with relevant stakeholders, and implement design modifications promptly and accurately.
