QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A college or university diploma in civil engineering, industrial drafting or a related field. Additional training in CAD is an asset.
Years of experience: 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in CAD design.
Technical competencies:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microstation is essential.
- Strong understanding of the principles of technical drawing, including the creation of plans, profiles and sections.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction methods.
- Experience in creating detailed engineering design drawings and models using CAD software.
- Knowledge of technical standards and specifications in bridge design.
- Knowledge of technical standards and specifications used in the rail industry is an asset.
- Experience as a CAD technician in the rail industry is an asset.
PERSONAL & SOFT SKILLS:
- Ability to work closely with the engineering and design teams, and to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
- Demonstrate thoroughness in creating and checking drawings and designs.
- Ability to use new technologies and adapt to them.
- Adapts and responds well to changing priorities and requirements.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Remuneration: The salary range for this position is $55,000-$75,000 per year. The exact salary will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, qualifications, certifications, competencies and other relevant criteria.

Responsibilities:
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician, you will be responsible for the preparation of engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Microstation, ensuring that the design drawings conform to the specifications and design data provided by the engineer or CAD manager.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with engineering and design team members to create engineering drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Develop and prepare engineering drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Develop and prepare shop drawings from design drawings and other data.
- Develop preliminary design sketches.
- Check and verify design drawings for conformity with specifications and design data.
- Develop 3D models from sketches or specifications, ensuring compliance with standards and technical constraints.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to understand project requirements and technical specifications.
- Make changes and revisions to existing drawings based on feedback from the engineering team.
- Attend coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss drawings and designs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of drawing versions and changes made for ongoing projects.
- Other related duties.
