Description:

The vibrant Bach Café at Ocean Spa is on the lookout for its next superstar Café Team Member! If you’re passionate about great coffee, delicious food, and creating memorable customer experiences, this could be the role for you.
This is a permanent, part-time opportunity (20 hours per week), with a flexible roster spanning Monday to Sunday. You’ll be joining a fun and energetic team that takes pride in delivering top-notch service to both our café guests and the wider Ocean Spa community.
As a Café Team Member, you’ll be at the heart of our operation—welcoming visitors with a smile, crafting exceptional customer experiences, and ensuring our food and beverages meet the high standards our guests expect. You’ll follow established processes and Standard Operating Procedures to keep things running smoothly, and from time to time, you may even step into a supervisory role to support the café team.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with preparing hot and cold meals, beverages, and catering setups for the Café at Marine Parade Pools, as well as functions and events. In the Café Lead’s absence, take responsibility for this task.
  • Act as Duty Manager for evening functions and daily operations when required, ensuring excellent service and compliance with alcohol service laws.
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming café kitchen and dining area, upholding high cleanliness standards.
  • Complete opening and closing tasks, including cashing up, as directed.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, from simple drinks to specialty options like espresso, café latte, and cappuccino, following recipes and techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Café Lead.
  • At times there may be a need to support back of house

Responsibilities:

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Completed Food Safety Course (NZQA Unit 167) and ideally hold an LCQ Qualification and Duty Manager’s Certificate—or be willing to obtain them.
  • At least 12 months of hands-on experience in hospitality, including food preparation and service.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as part of a roster.
  • Strong customer service skills with clear communication and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
  • Confident working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with cash handling and using computerized systems.
    We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
    Please note that we also have casual opportunities.
