Description:
Summary
The Cafeteria Assistant will assist the Cook to prepare, present, store, and dispatch all food products. In addition, the Cafeteria Assistant will help to maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining room in compliance with all Health and Safety regulations with strict adherence to all safe food handling guidelines.
Education
- Grade 12 or GED
- Restaurant or Cafeteria experience an asset
- Food Safety course is required and must be maintained

Accountabilities
- Strict adherence to Food Safe Guidelines at all times
- Assist with and provide high quality food preparation and presentation
- Ensure all areas of the kitchen are kept clean, especially during food production. This includes: any food spills are cleaned immediately, equipment is cleaned as required, and there is no buildup of grease or other stains on any equipment. This includes but not limited to vent hood and grill top, deep fryer, fridges and stoves
- Ensure food is stored in appropriate containers, labeled, and rotated to maintain freshness, minimizing waste and maximizing quality
- Assist to ensure the dining room and kitchen are clean at the end of each shift. This includes but is not limited to sweeping and washing floors, tables, countertops, microwaves, coffee area, garbage’s emptied etc.
- Be health and safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining and improving a safe work environment
- Follow all food service standards and specifications
- Other duties as assigned
Work Conditions
- Ability to lift 50lb required
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work flexible work schedule if necessary
