POSITION SUMMARY
This Calibration Engineering role is a position within the validation team based at the STERIS Galway laboratory. The site provides testing and technical services to the medical device and pharma industries.
The role requires the use of high technical aptitude and project management skills.
Reports to the Validation Supervisor
EDUCATION DEGREE
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering General
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3rd level relevant science or engineering degree
- Calibration experience: minimum 3 years
- Working in a regulated environment: minimum 5 years
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Technical writing experience
- Knowledge of measurement uncertainty evaluation and application
- 6 sigma and Minitab experience an advantage

Responsibilities:
DUTIES
- Create and maintain calibration related operating procedures, instructions and forms where required inline with applicable standards and regulations
- Perform regular calibrations of measuring and test equipment
- Reviewing and approving calibration certificates
- Ensure calibrations are completed as per calibration schedule and implement forward planning to avoid conflict with laboratory duties
- Regular update of the equipment calibration database with current information / status
DUTIES - CONT’D
- Managing calibration related projects to completion
- Support Quality team with investigations, procedure updates and audits
- Create and maintain equipment measurement uncertainty budgets
- Training of personnel in use of calibration and related documented instructions and forms
- Support laboratory equipment procurement and assist development of associated documentation
- Engage in lean and continuous improvements onsite
