Role Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Calibration Technician to join our technical team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the precision and reliability of the specialised testing equipment that underpins our industry-leading services. You will carry out the calibration, equipment checks, maintenance, and certification of instruments used in testing sports surfaces and products, ensuring compliance with strict regulatory and operational standards, particularly ISO/IEC 17025.
This position is central to our operations, as the accuracy and performance of our equipment directly impacts the quality of the results we provide to clients worldwide. Beyond calibration, you will play a proactive role in troubleshooting equipment issues, improving existing procedures, and contributing to the development of new methodologies. Collaboration with various internal teams, including research and testing, will offer you opportunities to support innovative projects and help shape the future of sports technology.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • A diploma, degree or relevant experience in engineering, electronics, instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in calibration, maintenance, or related technical roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 standards and their application in calibration processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using calibration equipment and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform annual calibration, checks, and maintenance of all our testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Maintain detailed records of calibration activities in accordance with company policies and stringent regulatory requirements, including ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
  • Assist in developing and improving our quality system, calibration procedures, ensuring full alignment with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and continuously seeking enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct internal audits and actively participate in external assessments to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and other relevant standards.
  • Support the development and validation of new testing methodologies and equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with testing and research teams to provide technical insights and ensure that calibrated equipment meets specific project needs.
  • Manage and organize the inventory of spare equipment, calibration tools, and accessories, ensuring resources are always available and accessible for operational readiness.
  • Troubleshoot and where possible repair faulty equipment, diagnosing technical issues promptly to minimize downtime, and liaising with internal external service providers when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members and junior staff on best practices in calibration, equipment handling, and adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 principles.
  • Stay informed about advancements in calibration technologies and industry trends, applying new knowledge to improve practices and maintain the company’s cutting-edge reputation.
