What to Expect
We are looking for a Camera Image Quality Engineer to join our Camera Systems team at Tesla. We are open to Entry level, Senior, and Staff levels for this role. This team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of cameras within our vehicles which includes sensor selection, lens development, camera module development, monitoring of manufacturing quality, camera calibration, image quality assessment, and camera quality tuning.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and test camera systems to ensure high-quality images for Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) applications
- Collaborate with camera hardware and software teams to ensure camera systems meet image quality requirements
- Develop and maintain camera calibration procedures to ensure optimal image quality
- Design and implement image quality testing protocols, tests and tools to ensure camera systems meet performance and reliability standards
- Analyze and troubleshoot image quality issues and develop solutions to resolve them
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate camera systems with other Autopilot and FSD components
- Develop and maintain documentation of camera system design, testing, and validation
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in camera technology and image quality
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in camera image quality engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of camera systems, image processing, and computer vision
- Experience with camera calibration, testing, and validation
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB
- Experience with image processing software such as OpenCV or similar
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with automotive camera systems and regulations preferred
- Knowledge of computer vision and image processing algorithms preferred

Expected Compensation
$96,000 - $348,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
