We have jobs available across Islington CAMHS Therapies Team, Children’s Centres and The Schools Team. These jobs are suitable for full time or for part time working.
We are looking for proactive, creative and highly skilled colleagues to join a combination of our CAMHS Therapies Team, and or Schools and Children’s Centres Teams, depending on interest and experience. The successful applicant(s) will be passionate about working with children, community working, promoting emotional well-being through evidence based practice. As well as being passionate about improving access and health outcomes for some of the most vulnerable families in our borough. Experience of working in a CAMHS service and schools or Children’s Centre settings is desirable. Clinicians should also be willing to work across Islington CAMHS.

To improve access for our Young People/Families and facilitate flexible working hours, Islington CAMHS operates an evening clinic Monday – Thursday until 19:00. This is optional and can form part of your job planning discussions with your manager.

The Borough
Islington is a wonderfully diverse borough. Despite its relatively small size it is densely populated with a resident child population of 40,000, which is about 20% of the total population. The borough is a varied community with extremes of affluence and poverty. There is a broad cultural mix from a range of ethnic minority groups.
The Post
The post will involve delivering evidence-based interventions within CTT and either the Schools Team or Children’s Centres (and potentially other CAMHS teams).
Every school in Islington has a CAMHS clinician attending weekly or fortnightly.
In the Schools Team, the post holder will be joining a well-established integrated multidisciplinary mental health team based in Islington’s primary and secondary schools. The teams offers assessment and treatment to young people, their parents and carers, as well as indirect work such as support, consultation and training to education colleagues. We have been working closely with our education and Local Authority partners for over 15 years and are proud to provide a highly valued, comprehensive offer to local schools. The Schools Team is a supportive and friendly working environment offering fortnightly multidisciplinary meetings, regular supervision, direct support from senior clinicians and termly CPD opportunities.
The Bright Start Islington Children’s Centres Team is located within a well respected CAMHS Early Years Service working with children up to 5 years of age and their families. The Early Years Service is made up of 4 teams. (The other services are: Growing Together, Parent and Baby Psychology and Incredible Years Parenting Groups) The Children’s Centres Team is integrated within CAMHS and Local Authority early years provision. We offer direct clinical work for families and children under 5, staff consultation, parent workshops and training in all 16 of Islington’s Children’s Centres and their surrounding settings. Clinicians provide an early intervention and preventative approach to working with common childhood difficulties and developmental concerns and we work closely with other CAMHS teams. We are committed to using and developing evidence based early years interventions to support the families that we work with.
The CAMHS Therapies Team provides mental health assessment and treatment to children & young people, and their families, where there is a significant concern about their emotional or psychological well-being. These may be diagnosable mental health conditions that are often severe and enduring. The team offers CAMHS interventions and specialist evidence based treatments including CBT, Child Psychotherapy, IPT and Family Therapy.
Islington CAMHS also has an SEMH service that is the front door for CAMHS, Children’s Social Care and voluntary sector services. Duty clinicians screen referrals, provide advice to parents and professionals and make referrals on to other CAMHS teams and community services.
We have a specialist NDT service for the assessment of Neurodevelopmental difficulties and a range of specialist teams for crisis support and specialist provision, including the Children’s Looked After Team, Crisis Team and the Adolescent Outreach Service
