JOB TITLE: Camp Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Community Services
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: Serveral
JOB STATUS & DURATION: Part time
HOURS OF WORK: 24 hours a week prior to camp season from May to June, 40 hours a week for July and August / flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required

HOURLY RATE: $21.48 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize high quality safe and stimulating specialized programming for all levels of participants and ensure it is appropriately delivered
  • Assist with the camp leader interview process
  • Perform Quest 2 evaluations
  • Keep current with industry trends and new class formats
  • Assist with the development, organizing, delivery, evaluating and documentation of staff training
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (eg. attendance, program schedules, staff schedules, incident/accident reports and behavior reports)
  • Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
  • Assist with daily attendance including follow up telephone calls in the event of absent campers
  • Assist camp leaders in the continuing development of their skills and act as a resource for leaders who require assistance with participants
  • Monitor the use of equipment and supplies, conduct inventory counts and re-stock as needed
  • Maintain a safe and tidy camp environment ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
  • Administer medications according to policy
  • Handle program feedback in a professional manner by providing exceptional customer service
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Travel between work sites during shift
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings/training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigne
